The Garmin 305 is a sophisticated sports watch and comes with a Heart Rate monitor as standard. The GPS is very sophisticated and able to acquire a signal even when close to tall buildings or trees.You can set up a Virtual Partner function which allows you to push yourself at a steady rate over the course of your run. It stores the data which can then be transferred to your PC where you can analyze your running sessions in great detail. It is a little bulky, especially compared to the Garmin 405cx and the Garmin 405 but its fine for running and if you buy the necessary accessories can be used on a bicycle or even in the gym. Its calorie consumption data is also not as sophisticated as ther 405cx. However, for its price it is probably the best value for money of the Garmin Forerunner range. If you are going for the cheapese option Garmin Forerunner then you should also take a look at the Garmin 205 as well.
